Fern Acres Intimate Joyful Late Spring Wedding / Ashley and Todd
Ashley and Todd’s late spring wedding at Fern Acres in Forks, Washington was a beautiful day from beginning to end.
The last time I was out on the Olympic Peninsula was for Taylor and Finn’s beautiful elopement last September so I was excited to check out the Washington Coast are at a different time of year!
When Ashley and I talked last year about me being their wedding photographer, she mentioned that seeing I was from Scotland which is her favorite country in the world, is what sealed the deal. I knew from then that it was going to be a great day!
It was my first time to the wedding venue Fern Acres, tucked away just outside of Forks, Washington. The property is quite large and sprawling wit lots of great nooks and crannies for couple portraits throughout the day as the sun shifts the shade spots.
We opted to have Ashley and Todd’s first look over near the ceremony site in amongst the huge trees so they were shaded and cool, as it was almost 65 degrees in May. We then strolled around the property taking some couple portraits before heading back over to the far side to do some wedding party and family photos before the couple hid away as guests arrived.
The wedding ceremony site at Fern Acres is such a gem. It’s bench seating which I just love and it has almost an ampitheatre feel to it that makes it feel intimate and yet epic at the same time. It’s also set amongst giant trees that makes it feel like you’re in the middle of an old growth forest in Olympic National Park.
After dinner we were treated to some delicous dinner (which WAS delicious) before Ashley and Todd cut the cake made by a very talented family member!
Once their first dance and special family dance was done, I snuck the couple away for some more couple portraits before letting them dance the night away, and boy did they!
